USA REPORT - VISIT TO NEW YORK AND VIRGINIATHURSDAY OCTOBER 4 TH TO MONDAY OCTOBER 22 ND 2007Sri Swamiji arrived at Brahma Vidya Peetham Headquarters, 10154 Broadsword Drive , Bristow , Virginia on October 4 th from Miami . He was greeted at the airport by Pt. Rajendra Persad, Pt Vigyan Dharamdass and Sushri Ananda. Friday 5 th October Today was spent in planning for the Meditation & Yoga symposium, read more... Saturday 6 th October BVP's first annual Yoga and Meditation symposium was held at Masonic Lodge, Springfield Virginia . Sri Swamiji conducted the session which was held from 9 AM to 5PM. 35 eager participants attended this program. They all found the sessions to be very informative and practical. It was the first time many of them were exposed to Yoga and Meditation. The topics covered in this program were various meditation techniques, yoga asanas, pranayama, anatomy of the psychosomatic body, philosophy of meditation and yoga, aura therapy, crystal therapy and meditation meter exercises. Attendants are looking forward for the next symposium. Plans are being made for the organization of the next symposium in New York . Sunday 7 th ,Monday 8 th , Tuesday 9 th October Sri Swamiji met with devotees and conducted Ramayan and Meditation classes at the headquarters. Wednesday 10 th October The BVP group drove with Swamiji from Virginia to New York . They arrived in New York at 3:30pm at the home of Smt. Dhanmati. Thursday 11 th October Planning and preparation for Navratri vrat, puja and yagna. Friday 12 th to Saturday 20 th October Sri Swamiji was in mauna until 12 noon during this period. He performed morning puja and path during this time. The nine nights Navratri Yagna was held at Bhuvaneshwar Mandir 86-06 101 Avenue, Queens New York. The theme of this yagna was "The Glory of Motherhood." Every night Swamiji presented different scenes describing and showing the Glory of Motherhood in relation to all our holy books. He presented various scenes: Shri Ram doing puja to Ma Durga, Shri Krishna doing puja to Ma Durga, Sita Ma doing Puja to Ma Durga, Draupadi and the Pandavas doing puja to Ma Durga. Then he delved into the philosophy of the katha of Devi Bhagwat Maha Puranam showing the relation to Yoga philosophy and the human body. Some 300 devotees attended every night to listen to the discourse and participate in Navratri Puja. Swamiji's vast knowledge and presentation of katha swooned audience and captivated the hearts of all devotees. The organizing committee of Bhuvaneshwar Mandir was extremely happy and requested Swamiji to come every year to conduct programs at the mandir. On Sunday 14 th and 21 st October , the devotees and committee of Sudama Mandir of 107 Avenue, 118 th Street, New York requested Swamiji to give discourses at the Sunday Morning service. Swamiji spoke on the glory of motherhood on the first Sunday describing the scene of the meeting of Hanumanji with Bharat and the three Queen mothers, Kaikeyi, Kausalya and Sumitra Mata. He presented and emotional katha that touched the hearts of the 200 devotees present at the mandir. On the 21 st , Swamiji spoke on philosophy of Navratri and Ma Durga. On Tuesday 16 th Sri Swamiji together with some devotees visited the Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island . Monday 22 nd October Sri Swamiji, Pt Vigyan and Sushri Ananda left New York at 11:45am with American Airlines for Trinidad via Miami . They arrived in Trinidad at 10pm.
