Yoga & Meditation Symposium- Oct. 2007

Brahma Vidya Peetham of Virginia USA hosted its first annual Yoga & Meditation Symposium at Masonic Lodge Springfield USA . The Symposium was conducted by its Founder and spiritual Guide Swami Brahmavairaagy of Kashi India .

There were thirty enthusiastic participants, many of them new to yoga and meditation. The Atmosphere was very peaceful, thrilling with the divine vibrations and aura of positivity. The attendants were delighted to be a part of such peaceful thinking and attitude. They expressed that it was a very informative program and can be adapted to everyday modern life. Experiencing the fullness of life depends on knowing ourselves at every level and building bridges among these different layers of our own being. As individuals, we are made of body, breath, mind and soul. Through this program participants gained a direct experience of the interconnected nature of these different levels of our being. We have to learn the art of providing nurturance to all these aspects of ourselves, for only then can we gain true health and reclaim the lasting joy that is our birthright.

The production and organisation of the entire session was excellent. The topics that were covered included The Anatomy of Psychosomatic body, various meditation techniques, yoga postures, pranayama, aura therapy, relaxation techniques, dietary principles, meditation meter - latest biofeedback technology to enable participants to learn breathing and meditation skills, achieve greater balance of mind and body and enjoy reduced stress and increased relaxation and many more. The ancient art of Yoga and Meditation was brought to light by the practical and academic sessions of the day. Further understanding was made possible by visual presentations and slide presentations.

Bhajans were performed by Mukundji of New York and Meera of Virginia. Acknowledgement of a participant's birthday was made. "What a blessing to be able to spend all day in the presence of Swamji," said by the participant's parents.

The Program content was very well presented. This was demonstrated by everyone's attentiveness. Participants were given the opportunity to express their feelings and experience at the end of the program. They expressed that they felt this day to be a new climate where without much effort one learnt how to be able to live more simply, more harmoniously and a little more genuinely and take a real step toward gross national happiness. They are all eager for the next Meditation and Yoga Symposium.
